The Khlebnaya Gavan terminal handled the first container ship, the CMA CGM owned 2,824teu M/V Dahila, in April 2009.
The container terminal (Piers No 42-43) was inaugurated in October 2008. The facility construction was carried out jointly with French carrier CMA CGM, the world’s third largest container shipping company.
After successful handling of the 8,000teu M/V Tubul in 2011-2012 at Odessa port, Maersk decided to deploy on the South East Asia-Black Sea line the container carrier sister ships.
The Odessa port container terminal operated by Brooklyn Kiev port Ltd. on November 24-26 handled the M/V Teno, a Liberia flagged, Maersk owned 299-m-long, 46-m-width container ship, the Odessa Commercial Sea Port press release said.
